If you experience an eye emergency, visit Center For Sight as soon as possible for emergency eye care. If our office is closed, please visit your nearest emergency eye clinic. Taking immediate action can help preserve your vision and keep you from experiencing unnecessary pain.

When Is It an Emergency?

Sometimes it can be difficult to know what’s an emergency and what isn’t. To be safe, always seek medical help as soon as possible if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Bleeding from the eyes
  • Extreme itchiness
  • Eye trauma
  • Foreign body in the eye
  • Discharge or crustiness
  • Bruising around the eye
  • Chemical splash
  • Scratches or cuts
  • Enlarged pupils
  • Eye pain or soreness

What to Do in an Emergency 

Emergencies can happen to anyone at any time, so it’s important to be prepared. In an emergency, visiting a medical professional as soon as possible should be your first priority. Please give us a call, tell us what’s happened, and we can begin to get you the help you need. On your way to our practice, avoid doing any of the following:

  • Attempting to remove foreign objects
  • Putting medications or drops in your eyes
  • Using tweezers or other tools near the eye
  • Rubbing or applying pressure to your eyes
