If You’re Experiencing Dry Eyes, You’re Not Alone
Dry eye disease is a common condition, affecting more than 16 million Americans. If you have dry eye syndrome, it means that you lack sufficient lubrication and moisture in the eye, which is necessary to keep your eyes healthy and functioning properly.
Dry eye disease is different for everyone. For some, it can result in only minor irritation, but for others, it can drastically affect their quality of life. No matter what symptoms you’re experiencing, our specially trained team is here to help you find relief.
What Is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction?
The meibomian glands are tiny glands in your eyelids that are partly responsible for making the oily layer in your tears. This oily layer is essential for keeping your tear film healthy, lubricating your eyes, and keeping your vision clear.
When the meibomian glands become blocked, plugged, or congested, it results in a common condition known as meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). MGD causes your tears to evaporate more quickly, leading to dry eye disease.
MGD is a common cause of dry eyes, and restoring these glands to their optimal level of function can help improve your symptoms.
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction Treatment
At Center For Sight, we offer the latest dry eye treatments to ensure your vision is the best it can be. If you suffer from MGD, we have the technology and treatments to help.
iLux Treatment
iLux treatment is a new eye dryness treatment that uses LED-based heat to gently warm the inner and outer surface of the eyelids. This heat helps to release any blockages in the meibomian glands. After an assessment, your doctor will place the iLux device on your eyes, which painlessly expresses oil in under 15 minutes.
LipiFlow
LipiFlow is a thermal pulsation system that applies therapeutic heat and pressure to the eyelids to remove gland obstructions. To begin your treatment, your doctor will place numbing eye drops in your eyes before placing the device over your eyelids. The treatment takes roughly 12 minutes.
Additional Dry Eye Treatments
In addition to specific MGD-focused dry eye treatments, we offer a variety of other treatments for dry eye disease, including:
